You’ve had goddesses and Adonises; the homely and repulsive. You’ve encountered mean-spirited ones, while some have earned your apple on their desk. Along with following their daily lesson plans, they’re supposed to be mandated reporters—the ears and eyes in classrooms, alerting authorities when a student displays behavior that sets off bells of sexual, physical, and emotional trauma. But what happens when the teacher is at the center of the abuse?
A former special education teacher has been sentenced for a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student.
According to Yahoo!, Anne Margaret Bacon, now 27, has been sentenced by a Ramsey County District Court after pleading guilty to criminal sexual conduct in the third degree involving a prohibited occupational relationship. A judge ordered her to serve 180 days, with two of them credited for time already served. The report says the remainder may be served by electronic monitoring.
Reports claim that Bacon rented hotel rooms four times in 2024, supplying alcohol for several students. A witness described a video that shows Bacon, the student, and friends drinking in a hotel room.
According to KARE 11, it is unlawful for teachers to have sexual relationships with students, even if they’re 18 or older, in Minnesota.
