House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL), a political party in the U.S. state of Minnesota affiliated with the National Democratic Party, was shot and killed along with her husband in the early hours of Saturday, June 13th.

This shooting comes just days after the lawmaker voted against MinnesotaCare for undocumented migrants in the state.

Lawton Lane News is an independent news site that offers its opinion. LLN believes this story deserves as much coverage as the slain UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson received.

LLN also observes that, just like the healthcare CEO, there is no public outrage. This website denounces violence, but it is clear that the public is thoroughly disgusted and frustrated with the healthcare and political systems in their country.
