Nasal reconstruction (rhinoplasty) and skin graphing are the earliest accounts of it, dating back to 600 BCE by the physician Sushruta. Vaudeville star Fanny Brice was the first recorded celebrity to receive it—a nose job—in 1923. Marilyn Monroe reportedly got rhinoplasty, chin augmentation, and rumored breast implants. Like the Holy Bible, it’s been around for centuries, yet it’s still highly controversial and debatable.
Plastic surgery has enhanced careers and destroyed others.
However, an unusual twist has unfolded about a mother who memorialized her daughter through cosmetic procedures.
According to Front Page Detectives, a Florida mom went under the knife to look like her dead daughter, calling it a “coping mechanism.”
Latoya Reid’s daughter, Massania Malcolm, and 1-year-old granddaughter were murdered by a homeless man Malcolm once sheltered. The man shot and killed Malcolm and left her child in a car, who later died of exposure after Malcom and her boyfriend ordered the man to leave their home.
Malcolm and her boyfriend, Jordane Reid, were walking Doujon Griffiths to the bus stop when Griffiths “opened fire.” Reid survived the attack, reports say.
On October 1, Griffiths was convicted of first-degree murder with a firearm, and three counts of shooting at, within, or into a building.
According to reports, Griffiths’ hearing is scheduled for November 1, and facing a life sentence.
